Dr. Sonja Lokensgard is a licensed acupuncturist and Doctor of Chinese Medicine specializing in treating digestive, mental-emotional, autoimmune, and orthopedic sports-injury related issues. She is passionate about natural skincare and trained in cosmetic acupuncture.

Her philosophy is to provide grounding, effective and compassionate care for patients to optimally heal. She views each patient as a unique, multidimensional wilderness that can come back into harmony when given the proper conditions. Sonja began pursuing acupuncture after taking leave from nursing school to recover from a life-threatening struggle with Ulcerative Colitis.

As she searched for ways to recover, she had an acupuncturist with a holistic outlook on pain and disease. It was with the assistance of acupuncture that she came back into alignment with her soul’s calling and was able to move forward in her life with the inner resources to heal. This experience inspired her to pursue a career in Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture so that she could help others reclaim their wholeness and address the root causes of their illnesses.

Sonja completed her Doctoral (DACM) work at Pacific College of Health and Science in San Diego. Integrating her Western roots with the gift of Eastern medicine, Sonja offers her fullness as a provider through her background in nursing, yoga teaching, long-term sobriety, daily Vipassana meditation, and a rigorous, joyful dedication to the present moment. Her goal is for patients to leave their treatments feeling validated, empowered, and with the best possible results.

When not in the treatment room, Sonja can be found painting, trail running, and dancing by the ocean.
